4e-zine Frequently Asked Questions
What is the 4e-zine™?
It is 4empowerment’s digital portfolio where you can submit your student work for others to read, enjoy, and eventually rate. You’ll find student-created poetry, short stories, screenplays, interviews, movies and more. It’s also a great place to find essential resources for your creative needs including expert chats, reviews, discussion boards, helpful websites and more.
Who can submit work?
Currently, we are only accepting work from students participating in school language arts programs in partnership with 4empowerment. We plan to provide the opportunity for non-participating students to submit work in the very near future so please check back soon or e-mail us at 4ezine@4empowerment.com and we’ll keep you updated. Or if your school is interested in program opportunities please contact us at dragonfly@4empowerment.com.
Who reviews the work?
The work is reviewed by the student’s teacher and can be approved or denied for posting on the 4empowerment website. We will also provide opportunities for you to submit work to be reviewed by experts in your area of interest throughout the year. Please do not submit work that contains unacceptable language or topics as it will not be considered for posting. All work must be school appropriate.
How long does it take to review the work?
Approval and posting to the 4empowerment (4e) website may take up to 2 weeks. If you have not received a response from 4e or your teacher at the end of the 2 weeks please contact your participating teacher.
How will I know if I get published?
If you are published on the 4empowerment 4e-zine website you'll receive an e-mail from us with a link to the posted work. You can even provide the e-mail addresses of your friends and family and we’ll send them an e-mail also.
Who owns the rights to the work that I submit?
In order to protect you, all material on www.4empowerment.com is copyrighted to protect us and to exclude others from republishing your work. However, all individual contributors retain the right to submit their work for publication elsewhere and you have our permission to do so. You may not use anything from or for our website without our permission. You are not allowed to post or distribute any material you do not own or which you do not have permission to use. Ignoring this policy may result in copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights violation. Please see our full Terms of Use for further information.
How long does the work stay posted on the site?
We will provide access to the posted work for up to three months.
Are there any size limits to the files submitted to 4e?
Yes. We currently need to limit the size of the video submissions to a maximum of 8 megabytes. Our preferred file size is 3 megabytes or less. Because many of our users do not have regular access to high-speed connections it may be difficult for some students and teachers to view the larger files. We ask that you compress your file as much as possible to enhance site performance.
How do I receive information about 4e-zine news and updates?
If you are not currently a member please Join and you’ll start receiving our monthly e-letter within one month. All members should be receiving a monthly e-letter. If not, please be sure to let us know at dragonfly@4empowerment.com. If your answer isn't contained in the FAQ, please e-mail us at 4ezine@4empowerment.com.
